Silver Lake Regional Park

I kept on having to drive by there on my way to a car chase and decided to stop the other day.  I haven’t been here in thirty some years.  We used to go camping and boating here when we were kids.

LOL….I sure do remember it being MUCH bigger than this.

Not a soul in sight that morning.

It sure was peaceful and quiet there.  Not for long though….they’re building a school right next door.

On the way out I stopped by the now fenced off quarry.  We used to skip school to go there.

I remember laying on a raft on my stomach and getting the backs of my legs so sunburned that I couldn’t bend them at the knees.  That was the 2nd time I had ran away from home and this is as far as I got.  I was almost 17 then….young and stupid!  I think my parents then finally gave up on trying to keep me at home and  gave me permission to move in with my friends.  I was still going to school and was also working.

I wonder why some of us while we are young, make things so hard for ourselves.

  1. Wow what a beautiful place. So quiet too.

  2. Joe….yes it was…except for interruptions by the sound of heavy equipment in the background where they are building the school.

  3. Beautiful place. It is a little weird to go back to a place we went as children, it always seems much smaller than we remembered…Enjoy your week, Sheila

  4. That looks like an awesome place, much needed, in our busy lives. I'm in the mood for camping now 🙂

  5. Charlotte….it's only five miles from me and I haven't had time to go back by there. I know the blackberries ought to be ripe. I saw tons of them when I passed through there.
